This is a brief introduction to the main therapies used at AVMC

Veterinary Homeopathy

We use a variety of homeopathic techniques, broadly based upon the principles first devised by Hahnemann. Homeopathy is holistic. Homeopathy serves to stimulate or to trigger endogenous healing mechanisms, working with the body.

Veterinary Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine, as old as mankind itself, is surprisingly the ancestor of modern drug medicine. However it differs in many respects. Plants (herbs), extracts of plants, parts of plants are used to help harmonise the body's function, for better health. Off-shhots of herbal medicine are Aromatherapy and Bach Flowers or Flower Essences.

Nutritional Medicine

Each patient is offered natural feeding advice, compatible with its medical condition and constitution. We believe that fresh food, not manufactured and processed food, is best for your animal and is the platform upon which we hope to build health. Each species has its own needs, as a result of its evolutionary development. This is taken into account, when advising on diets and natural feeding.

Veterinary Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a broad heading, taken to include acupuncture-by-laser, acupressure and moxibustion. It is a holistic therapy, broadly based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. Through acupuncture techniques, we aim to rebalance the energy of the body, in oreder to promote healing and health.

Chiropractic Manipulation

We use chiropractic manipulation to ensure that the skeletal system is aligned at its optimum, for correct function and mobility. It is a gentle and relaxing therapy, which is more than structural support, in that it helps neurological and hormonal function, as a beneficial by-product. We find it an essential pre-cursor to acupuncture treatments and it is offered for very patient at the AVMC.

Integration

We attempt to select the best therapy for each patient, depending upon its special needs. We also integrate different therapies, should this be required. We do not shun occasional use of modern drugs, if they are vital to save life or to preserve welfare; happily this is a very rare requirement.

We welcome enquiries and are keen to share information.
